Romans 2.

This is probably the hardest chapter in Romans to understand and to reconcile to Paul’s teachings in general, and to the message of the rest of the letter. I hold onto this chapter as “introductory” to the rest of the letter and will return to it as we get further into this letter to the Romans.

For today, I take this sentence as real guidance in living as a real Christian.

Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

  1. I agree that verse 4 is key to Christian living. Years ago I heard that the reason the South Korean church experienced such explosive growth is because small groups would “adopt” a non-believing family/person and just love them so well that person would choose Christ. Loving people into the kingdom takes a lot of patience and humility and biting the tongue.
