Hebrews 6.

The writer of Hebrews issues his third warning, not to commit apostasy (fall away) after having tasted the heavenly gift, the good word of God, and the miracles to come (and more). This apostasy is likened to crucifying Jesus all over again. Yikes.

But the writer encourages the readers that he is hopeful that this falling away is not them.

There’s quite a bit more in this chapter. I’ll leave it to you to move on to maturity.

  1. I am a Senior citizen. Like many of us, I am seeking and praying, “Lord, what do you want me to do with the rest of my years on Earth, given my health limitations, fixed income, etc.” As I read Hebrews 6, verses 10-11 jumped out at me…and a thought in my head said, “This is the answer.”
Hebrews 6:10-11. “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end”.
As I pondered this, I realized this is what the Shema says.

    1. The interconnectedness of Shema is compelling. We love others because we love God. We express our love of God by loving others. Around and around and around.

Barb, that’s a special insight that you see this in these verses. As Jesus said, there is no commandment greater than these.
