Acts 16.

When the narrator enters the story: 10 After Paul saw the vision, we attempted immediately to go over to Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them. (v.10)

The details surrounding Lydia’s conversion including the baptism of her household and her insistent hospitality are intriguing. I draw these conclusions from the inclusion of her part in Paul’s mission: she must have had some influence; she was likely a supporter of the ministry; she’s an example of having a “non-churchy” profession; and she demonstrates a remarkable acceptance of the gospel. I wonder, what her role might have been in the church at Philippi.

As the mission party leaves Philippi, the happy band includes Paul, Silas, Timothy, and Luke.

  1. I love glimpses into the humanity of characters – verse 18, Paul get so exasperated, he casts out a demon! It wasn’t because of some noble motive.
