As the author of Hebrews continues to describe the relationship between the old covenant, the old tabernacle, and the earthly high priest, and the new covenant, the heavenly tabernacle, and Christ our great high priest, I sense profound revelation through the spirit to this author. These ideas are not in Jesus’ teaching, nor from the Old Testament. The readers, and us, are being let in on an eternal perspective that helps us understand how far forward Jesus has taken us, from what were the “sketches” of how life works in the spiritual realm.
This phrasing I really like.
14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our consciences from dead works to worship the living God.
Hebrews 9:14
Hebrews 9:12 says, “…he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood…”. Ephesians 2:6 says, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Putting these two together, I deduce that positionally, we are in the Most Holy Place seated next to Christ. (Please anyone, correct me if I am not seeing this in the right way.)
I can’t fully grasp this truth, but yes the Ephesians passage alone tells us we are “positionally” seated with Christ. Hebrews just adds icing on the cake, as it were.
