Hebrews 4.

I would love to hear any thoughts on the Sabbath rest the author speaks of.

For my part, I was thinking specifically about this passage that we often quote:

12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow;

Hebrews 4:12a

But we less often quote the rest of the verse which is the point the author is making.

it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.

Hebrews 4:12b – 13

So, while it is true that the word of God can penetrate even to soul and spirit, it is to the purpose of judgment of our desires and thoughts. And we give an account. From our deep down, most hidden desires and thoughts. Uh oh.
