Genesis 27-29, Psalm 10

The story of Jacob and Rachel and Leah will continue past these three chapters, but I say now that there is a lot of deception in Jacob’s rise to the head of Isaac’s clan. Jacob is not only the deceiver, but also the deceived. The bible tells it like it was. We can still be looking forward to the time when Jacob has to face Esau. When will that be? What will happen?

Stay tuned.

Psalm note: Psalms 9 and 10 are thought to have once been one long psalm. If psalm 9 is praise to God for his handling of the wicked and being a stronghold for the oppressed, psalm 10 details all the ways the wicked still prosper. The psalmist asks for God to step in. But as with so many of the psalms that include cries for help and protection from the oppressors, the writer ends the psalm with this note of confidence in what God will accomplish.

17 O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek;
    you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
18 to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed,
    so that those from earth may strike terror no more.
