Goodbye and greet everyone!
We know so little about most of the people mentioned by Paul in his final greetings. For me, there was one line that stood out because it connected to me personally. You need a little history.
My parents divorced when I was in the fifth grade. My brother and I lived with my mom. My dad’s dad was a huge influence in my life and he convinced me that I could and should go live with my dad when I turned 14. And so I did. I moved in with him and my first evil step-mother. She was. And they divorced not too long after that.
All through high school then, I had several women in my life who mothered me day-to-day. My mom was just a sometimes weekend mom. This was all good. These ladies were special. One of them was Pam’s mom, who was extra special.
That was my high school history. Here’s the verse from chapter 16. “13 Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother who was also a mother to me.” I know that experience Paul. Never noticed it before, but we had that in common.
